I’ve spent most of my life in Florida, where hurricane season isn’t just something you watch on the news—it’s part of life.
Like many Floridians, I’ve experienced the uncertainty that comes with tracking storms, preparing homes, deciding when to evacuate, sitting through long power outages, and cleaning up after the winds have passed. Every hurricane teaches something new, and over the years those experiences have shaped the way I think about preparedness.
I didn’t create Hurricane Bug Out because I consider myself an expert on every emergency.
I created it because I believe practical experience, thoughtful planning, and calm decision-making can help people feel more confident when hurricane season arrives.
A Lifetime of Building and Solving Problems
Throughout my career, I’ve always been drawn to projects that bring people together and solve real-world problems.
I’ve worked as a chef, corporate trainer, entrepreneur, technology community organizer, drone pilot, content creator, and business owner. I’ve launched startups, hosted hundreds of technology meetups, organized conferences, built online communities, and spent years teaching people new skills.
While those experiences may seem unrelated, they all share one common theme:
Helping people learn, prepare, and succeed.
That same philosophy is the foundation of Hurricane Bug Out.

When I began researching hurricane preparedness websites, I noticed a pattern.
